Yankeedom State Propaganda: Low Unemployment Stats

This article by political economist Jack Rasmus details how the state exaggerates some labor statistics and distorts and plays down others in order to paint a rosy picture of the job market. In fact, while the unemployment rate is down for full-time jobs, the number of full-time jobs available is actually declining. The growth is in part-time and temp jobs, which people are forced to take because of the lack of full-time work. Additionally, the UI numbers do not include people who have timed out of UI benefits but have still not found work.
