The New Left in Yankeedom had attacked Marx and Engels for their Promethean vision of humanity conquering nature. In addition, under the leadership of the Frankfurt school, Marx has been separated from Engels who had the nerve to say there was a dialectic in nature. Whatever Engels got wrong, he was clearly ahead of Marx in understanding the importance of humanity’s impact on nature, as this article demonstrates.
