Sham Apology from Japan for Enslaving “Comfort Women”

Flashpoints on KPFA had a riveting interview last night with an 88 year old “comfort woman” who is one of the leaders in a 25 year fight to get acknowledgement from the Japanese government of the monstrous treatment of these women – girls, really – in many countries. This “apology” is not official, the women who were enslaved were not consulted about this and it’s a very convenient way for the US to maintain the Pacific Pivot against China with Japan and South Korea. It also conveniently absolves any responsibility of the Japanese government and allows it to bury the whole abominable mess so they don’t have to “continue to apologize”.

You can hear the entire interview in the KPFA Flashpoints archives.
