Is the Pink Tide in South America Receding?

In Argentina and Venezuela, recent elections have resulted in losses of left liberals or social democrats. What does this mean? This article, written by Trotskyists, rightfully ties their losses to the lowering of the price of oil which funded much of their social programs. It also rightfully counters the idea that the working class would prefer right-centrist politicians. Rather, the problem is that there is no independent working class party to vote for. Aside from their their predictable solution of a new vanguard Trotskyist party, this is a good article.
