Geopolitical Tectonics: Pakistan Election Results Look Like China is Chosen Over the IMF

The United States is not the only country to have low voter turnout. In the recent election in Pakistan, 53% of the population did not bother to vote. According to this article, Pakistan has one of the highest rates of stratification in the world but it was the urban middle class that voted for Imran Khan of the Pakistan Justice Party to become the next prime minister. The Pakistan economy is in very bad shape and needs China’s economic support. The election results indicate that Pakistan will go with China to solve its economic woes rather than the IMF. We think this is very good news since China is building infrastructures in their country. When was the last time you heard the IMF invest in the physical economy?
