China in Africa and Latin America: Economic Imperialism?

Western media does funny things with words. When Yankees are attacked for their imperialism, they trot out their usual euphemisms such as “foreign aid”. But lo-and-behold, when China offers to build roads or harness energy in Latin America or Africa, this same western media discovers the vocabulary of “debt trap” and “imperialism”.  The author of this article explains why what China is doing has little to do with imperialism.
