This article is not a dogmatic plea that the Soviet Union was a utopia. However it challenges anti-communists like Noam Chomsky who, while getting on his high horse about not collaborating with Leninists, has no problem telling us to vote for Democrats every four years. The same criticism can be leveled at the more conservative members of Democratic Socialists of America. We don’t agree with Parenti that workers’ self-management has not been tested.
