Worker Self-Management in History: The Workers’ Opposition in Soviet Russia

What does it mean for workers to take over production? For many on the left this is not very realistic. For social democrats, workers take over under the guidance of elected social democratic leaders. For most Leninists “workers’ control” is a temporary thing, later to be superseded by the wise interventions of the  vanguard party. But the Workers Opposition in Russia supported what workers were actually doing in Russia – which was directly taking over.
