This is a long and well-thought-out review of the movie Trumbo about the problems of screenwriting during the Cold War. The reviewer rightly points out that despite the radical nature of the subject matter and the integrity of Trumbo, the movie follows the usual Hollywood formula of “One Man’s Heroic Quest” against the “Evil Establishment”. It fails to connect it up to what came before the Cold War and what the impact of the Cold War was on US politics since then.
