India: Rising Economic Power or Victim of Neo-Colonialism?

In the world of international economic terminology, the word “development” is loaded. Does it mean the total GNP and the size of the defense budget? Or does development mean the per capita GNP, the poverty level or the level of health and education? So while the myth is being perpetuated that India is soon to be an Asian powerhouse, measured by poverty, education and health, India is barely above Bangladesh – and it ranks behind many African countries.
