Capitalists Cannibalizing Their Own Infrastrure: Port of Oakland to Close Major Terminal

In part because of a 9% decline in the ocean freight rates, capitalists have decided to close a major terminal at the Port of Oakland. If capitalism were a truly democratic system, the capitalists would have to pay for the consequences of their failure to rationally coordinate their system across industries. Instead, all the work that has gone into building the terminal will be abandoned. The result for workers – more weekend work, more graveyard shifts, more waiting for the ships to come in. Why are workers always the ones to pay for this capitalist irrationality?
